The Content of Their Character

King dreamed about a future in which Americans could stop being segregated by the color of their skin, but rather live together in an integrated society. His vision was in direct contrast to other activists like Malcolm X, who represented a Black separatist religion called the Nation of Islam. X and several other Black leaders believed that white Americans were evil, that Black Americans needed their own separate country in which to live, and that people should always be judged primarily by the color of their skin.
